Arts Avenue for Kids offers children a variety of age appropriate theater classes to allow students to choose a class which best fits their interest. In each class we will emphasize important acting techniques, building self-confidence, respect for one another, and having fun, which will not only help them achieve theatrical excellence, but will also help them excel in life.  We also emphasize the importance of honoring God in all we do and say.
   
   Our class sessions meet once a week for 13 weeks and then close with all of the classes putting on a show for family and friends which will include costumes, live music, and lights!  Classes begin the week of February 2nd with the final show on Monday evening, May 11th.  There will be no classes the week of Spring Break.

   Arts Avenue for Kids is not affiliated with a church body. Everyone is welcome! We would love for your child to join us on a journey of learning the arts. In everything we do, we will strive to give honor to God!

Listed below is a description of each class. 

Theater Class Descriptions

Imagine It! (ages 4-6)
This class will be all about developing imaginations and creativity!  The students will create their own stories, go on fantastic imaginative adventures, use lots of costumes, sing songs, dance, play with puppets and masks, and will begin to learn some basic elements of acting such as voice projection, expression, and memorization! 

Bound for Broadway 1 (ages 7-10)
This class will focus on Broadway musicals.  If your child loves to sing, dance and act then this is the class for them!  Students will be singing and doing choreography for songs from Broadway and will learn a scene from a Broadway musical that they will perform for the final show.  This class will give them a great head start on learning fundamentals of choreography, singing and acting for the stage. 

Combo 1 (ages 7-10)
This class is great for kids who would like to learn a wide range of skills in theater.  Students will learn important acting fundamentals such as stage presence, character motivation, stage direction and blocking and much more.  They will also learn about choreography, singing, improvisation, mime, face-painting, stage combat and will even create their own commercials!  There will be something new every week!

Combo 2 (ages 11-14)
This class will be similar to Combo 1 but will go into more depth.  Students will be given the opportunity to write, act, sing, dance, learn about stage make-up, and have lots of fun with improvisation.  In addition, students will be learning important acting techniques and how to audition.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (ages 9-16)
In this class students will perform a full-scale production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe complete with costumes, sets and lights!  This play is adapted from C.S. Lewis' book and follows it very closely.  It is full of adventure, sword fights, and excitement!  Every student will be given a part as they learn about everything that goes into putting on a production.  Technical rehearsals and performances are the week of May 26-30.

Class Fees  for Spring 2009

Imagine It! - $190.00
Bound for Broadway 1 - $250.00
Combo 1 - $250.00

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - $310.00

Payments can be made in full with registration or in five installments of $50.00 each.  The first installment is due with registration and the remaining four installments are due on the first class session of each month (February through May).  Imagine It! and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe can do $50.00 with registration and then $35.00 a month for Imagine It! and $65.00 a month for LWW.  Payments can be made by check or online with a credit card through Paypal.

Multiple-Child Discount
After the first child, each additional child in the family will receive $50.00 off the class fee.  This can be deducted from the payment due at registration. 

Multiple-Class Discount
If you would like to sign your child up for more than one class (including theater, dance and art) you will receive $50.00 off each additional class.
